1. How to delete your account
You can request deletion in either of two ways:
In the app
- Open the WirePoint app.
- Go to Account → Security → Delete account.
- Confirm the request. We may ask you to verify your identity first.
By email
Send a request from the email address on your account to support@wirepoint.app with the subject "Delete my account". We will verify your identity before processing the request.
2. What gets deleted
When your deletion request is completed, we permanently delete or anonymise:
- your profile and account details (name, email, phone number);
- your identity-verification data, including your BVN and any ID or address documents;
- your device, login, and app-usage data;
- your support messages and notification preferences.
3. What we must keep, and why
As a financial service, we are legally required to retain certain records even after your account is deleted. This includes transaction and verification (KYC) records kept under Nigerian anti-money-laundering law and the regulations of the Central Bank of Nigeria. We retain these records only for the period the law requires — typically at least five years — after which they are deleted. We do not use retained records for any other purpose.
4. Before you delete
- Settle or withdraw any remaining wallet balance — deletion does not release funds owed.
- You cannot delete your account while a deposit order is still in progress.
- Deletion is permanent. You would need to create a new account to use WirePoint again.
5. How long it takes
We process verified deletion requests within 30 days. Records we are required to keep by law are retained for the statutory period described above and then deleted automatically.
